Q4 2020 Roundup: Europe's Top Virtual Pet Apps Show Varied Performance

As the year 2020 came to a close, the virtual pet app category saw a variety of performance trends across the top five applications in Europe, based on data from Sensor Tower. Here, we'll take a look at how these apps fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users.

My Cat – Virtual Pet Games experienced a notable increase in downloads, peaking at 114K in the last week of December from 64K at the end of September. Weekly active users followed a similar trend, growing from 175K to 277K in the same period. Revenue saw a slight uptick towards the end of the quarter, finishing at approximately $48K.

MinoMonsters, Inc.'s app, Cat Game - The Cats Collector!, showed a more stable pattern, with downloads hovering around 10K at the start and end of the quarter, and weekly active users maintaining a steady range from 69K to 54K. Revenue for the app remained modest, ending the quarter at nearly $14K.

My Talking Tom 2 by Outfit7 Limited maintained a strong presence in the market, with downloads climbing from 333K to 526K. The app also saw a significant increase in weekly active users, from 4.3M to 4.8M. Revenue for the app, while lower than its user engagement might suggest, finished the quarter at around $14K.

The same publisher's My Talking Angela showed a consistent increase in downloads, starting at 241K and rising to 399K by the end of Q4. Weekly active users also increased, reaching 3.6M from an initial 3.2M. Revenue figures, however, remained on the lower side, concluding the quarter at about $8K.

Lastly, My Talking Tom Friends, another game from Outfit7 Limited, demonstrated robust download numbers, starting at 458K and increasing to 592K. The app also enjoyed a rise in weekly active users, from 3.9M to 4.5M. Revenue ended at approximately $6K for the last week of December.
